The Website Design Process

1. Chat

First off…

we will have an initial chat which will include among other things:

– details about your business
– which pages you need
– what content you will need to supply
– whether you need me to supply some of the content
– the general look of the website
– whether you need a logo
– whether you need a domain name

This “chat” is usually via email so that there is no confusion about what was said or agreed.

2. Quote

I will then send you a quote along with 3 design options to choose from, as a starting point.

All designs can be changed so the decision at this point need not be final, it is merely to give an idea of where we are headed.

If none of the designs suit, I will provide other options.

If there are other sites that you like, I will ask you to let me have their website addresses so that I can get an idea of the style of site you require.

3. Design

Once the design starting point has been agreed, I will design and build the home page so that you can look at it as if it were live on the internet.

At this point I will also invoice you the first 50% of the cost which is payable on receipt.

You can approve (or not) the layout, colours etc. If there are any changes I will make adjustments until you are happy.
(These adjustments can only be small tweaks, if you decide you don’t like the design after all, there will be additional costs over and above the original quote.)

4. Build

Once you have approved the home page I will complete the rest of the site.

This usually takes about 2 weeks.
(This timeline excludes e-commerce sites)
The timescale is dependent upon me having all the information I requested from you before the design process started, and that there are no unforeseen problems.

You will receive a link to the completed draft website for you to look at.

When you are happy with the site you will be sent the final invoice for payment.

5. Launch

The new website can then be made live on a date you specify and your new internet life can begin!
